Laura is an award-winning, creative, and personable urban designer with significant experience in delivering innovative, sustainable projects within sensitive contexts. She has worked on a range of internationally acclaimed projects of varying scales in North America, Europe, and Asia: with a background in constructed and conceptual mixed-use, residential, commercial, cultural, and resort urban design projects.

With exceptional talent and experience in delivering concept, feasibility, and detail design, Laura is particularly adept at developing practical solutions to complicated site situations. Laura’s practical experience in architecture and urban design uniquely positions her to create robust concepts which are buildable and environmentally responsible. She has strong links with technicians, designers, and consultants on a range of built projects where effective and equal communication is essential to negotiate complex issues. Laura has built a loyal following of clients who value her dedication, creative enthusiasm, and willingness to tackle complex problems.

Laura was previously Principal at LLY Design and Co-Founder of Debicki-Young Design Partnership where she ran a successful Calgary-based firm focused on implementing the values of
mixed-use urban design, healthy urbanism, and placemaking with personality. Laura is experienced in comprehensive project delivery and her attentiveness to the client’s interests ensures the design process is transparent and highly organized. She is practiced with balancing critical and aesthetic concerns with strict schedules, budgets, and contracts. With dynamic experience and a diligent attitude in design delivery, production technique, and technical coordination, Laura has been honored internationally several times in both professional and academic challenges.
