Located in Saskatoon’s Holmwood Sector Plan, Brighton is intended to ultimately become a vibrant, mixed use community for over 15,000 residents. Stormwater ponds are proposed to be aesthetically integrated into the community, while maintaining their primary function to store and purify storm runoff. The overall design is based on a modified street grid with lot and housing orientation, for the most part, to address passive solar capture. Future plans to the east will include a significant regional park/senior high schools, an employment campus, and shopping precincts, all intended to complement the residential fabric of Brighton. Open space will link the two areas, providing an excellent opportunity for residents to choose forms of mobility other than the automobile.
