Many rural communities are facing significant economic, social and environmental changes. In the face of these changes, rural communities have an opportunity for revitalization by embracing a strong local identity and spirit.
This is what B&A and Parkland County did in the County’s recent award-winning Technical Growth Study (TGS). B&A was the prime consultant for Parkland County’s TGS with additional work by subconsultants; Applications Management and McElhanney Consulting. As part of the Growth Study, B&A created an innovative process for tackling the challenges of rural growth, economic development and land use planning over a wide geographic area. Ultimately, the TGS supported the development of the County’s new Municipal Development Plan, One Parkland: Powerfully Connected, which B&A also played a lead role.
Each year, the Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) recognizes exemplary work within the planning profession at its annual conference. B&A, in partnership with Parkland County, is proud to be recognized for our work on the Parkland County TGS which received an award of Planning Merit at this year’s conference held on October 1, 2018, in Kananaskis. B&A also presented a session at the conference on rural growth planning in collaboration with Parkland County.
