On February 1, 2017, B&A will officially call Edmonton it’s second home with the establishment of a local office.
“We’re focusing on expanding our reach into key geographic markets of interest,” explains Kathy Oberg, Managing Partner at B&A. “Given our growing and diverse client base in the Edmonton Metro Region it was a logical next step for us. Our second office in Alberta will help us better serve and grow our clients in this area and throughout the province.”
Leading up the Edmonton office will be B&A Associate and Registered Professional Planner Brian Murray. Brian brings over 15 years of experience in planning and urban development and was recognized in 2013 as one of Edmonton’s Top 40 under 40. Brian holds multiple awards for his planning projects from the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Alberta Professional Planners Institute, and the International Downtown Association.
Over the past ten years, Brian has played an instrumental role in shaping the City of Edmonton’s City Planning branch. Originally from Ontario, Brian moved to Edmonton in 2007 to join the Sustainable Development department at the City where he worked his way from a Planning Technician to a Director of Business Strategy and Operations and Acting Director of Urban Policy. Brian has led numerous business publications such as business and strategic plans, as well as planning and policy publications including ‘Edmonton’s Urban Design Framework’ along with B&A’s Sonny Tomic.
“I’m extremely passionate about the city I call home,” says Murray. “I’m proud to have played a hands-on role in the transformations currently underway that are bringing Edmonton’s Strategic Plan – The Way Ahead – to life. My goal is to build on existing relationships and use my experience in municipal policies and processes to help our clients achieve project success in the Edmonton Metro Region.”
Brian will work hand-in-hand with the Calgary-based B&A team of 40+ professionals to leverage the full suite of in-house services including Planning, Urban Design, GIS, 3D & Technical Services along with Communications & Engagement. B&A’s strong working relationships with professional service firms that have Edmonton branches will also support the assembly of customized and optimal project consulting teams.
Over the past several years, B&A has been continuing to build its project portfolio in the Edmonton Metro Region including recent planning initiatives with Leduc and Parkland County.
