B&A Shares Industry Insights at the 2021 CPAA Virtual Conference

As a long-term supporter of the Community Planning Association of Alberta (CPAA), the B&A team was thrilled to be invited to present at the 2021 CPAA Virtual Conference: Take the Initiative! Exploring Innovations & Resiliency in Community Planning. Presenting to a range of stakeholders throughout Alberta, B&A’s Environmental Planner, Marissa Koop, and Communications and Engagement Specialists, Bridget Honch and Tamille Beynon, shared industry insights from their respective professions.

Marissa, alongside Magna Engineering’s Jennifer Massig, presented on The Role of Municipal Leadership in Stormwater Resilience. Historically perceived as a liability within community design, Marissa and Jennifer challenged this idea by sharing her professional opinion about the role innovation can play in providing cost-effective stormwater solutions within existing policy frameworks.

Over a year into coordinating and facilitating COVID-safe engagement programs, Bridget and Tamille discussed The Evolution of Public Engagement Through a Pandemic and Moving Forward, sharing key learnings over the last year and their projections for the future of planning and public engagement in a post-pandemic world. The presentation touched on many facets of communication and engagement and how each has been affected, including traditional versus online tactics, navigating capacity and conflict, and expectations moving forward.

“Having worked with CPAA for several years in many capacities, it is exciting to see our team of professionals share their knowledge and learning with industry leaders,” says Nathan Petherick, Partner. “As a conference sponsor and dedicated supporter of CPAA, B&A appreciates the opportunity to work with and learn from CPAA and its network of planning professionals throughout Alberta.”

Thank you to CPAA for inviting our team to present during this year’s Virtual Conference. B&A is proud to work with the organization to support dialogue around planning in Alberta, and we look forward to many more exciting initiatives in the future.
